MAKE POVERTY HISTORY News On: 15th April 2005Following the success of their No1 single
“All About You” in aid of Comic Relief, McFLY have pledged their support to the MAKE POVERTY HISTORY campaign.
Every THREE seconds a child dies of poverty on this planet. Over 100 million children are too poor to go to school.
Every child deserves the chance of a happy life and we all have the power to make this happen.
At the start of 2005
McFly went to Uganda, Africa where they visited a project funded by Comic Relief. “Going to Africa with Comic Relief
has literally changed our lives” says Danny. “2005 really is a year where big changes can be made. The leaders
of the 8 richest countries in the world are meeting in Scotland in July. The good news is that we’re the first generation
ever who can stop the downward spiral of world poverty. It doesn’t matter what age you are, everyone can make their
voice heard on this subject by going to www.makepovertyhistory.org and sending Tony Blair an email. You can give someone the
chance of a future by getting involved. Please help us to make a noise about this”.
There are three main ways
in which YOU can get your voice heard.
1. Wear a white band! Show the rest of the world that the Make Poverty History
campaign is something to shout about! White bands are available at Oxfam shops or by phone from Save The Children on 0207
012 6400, Action Aid on 01460 238027 or Christian Aid on 08700 787 788
2. Take part in the Buddy Challenge. Join young
people in 110 countries and design your own ‘buddy’, a cool personal e-message to the G8 World Leaders representing
kids who are too poor to go to school. Log on to www.sendmyfriend.org to find out more.
3. Log on to www.makepovertyhistory.org where you can send Tony Blair an email asking him to make real changes in 2005. White bands are available at Oxfam shops
or by phone from Save The Children on 0207 012 6400, Action Aid on 01460 238027 or Christian Aid on 08700 787 788
