'All About You' double A side with 'You've Got A Friend'
News On: 7th February 2005
We can reveal that the double A side to McFly's Comic Relief single 'All About You' is a cover of the classic Carole King
track 'You've Got A Friend'. The guys are really proud to be releasing the single for Red Nose Day and following a trip to
Uganda were overwhelmed by the lives that the villagers lead and also amazed by the fantastic work Comic Relief makes. The
band visited a project funded by Comic Relief; Kamwokya Christian Caring Community. The project supports the community by
caring for people affected by HIV/AIDS, running a health clinic providing vocational training as well as operating a primary
school for children orphaned by HIV.
Tom said "None of us knew what to expect when we flew to Uganda, but it was like
nothing we could have imagined. We spent four days in a slum called Kamwokya meeting the people who lived there. We met kids
and teenagers leading really, really hard lives - many had been orphaned by AIDs, some had to look after all of their brothers
and sisters as there was no one else to help and some of them were ill themselves. But they were all amazing".
On
the final day of their visit, McFly performed a free concert for all the under privileged children they met. - a fantastic
show for everyone.
